Primary Bathroom Remodel

This project began with a simple need from The Campbell’s, this primary bathroom needed to be completely redone. The layout was frustrating, the storage severely lacking, and some aspects nearly unusable. Utilizing our Design + Build Approach, we worked closely as a team to meticulously reinvent their primary bathroom space. The result is a mountain grotto inspired bathroom that surfaces memories of beloved places. Through the use of reclaimed materials, custom cabinetry, and a fully envisioned shower, we turned their barely functional bathroom into a dream space.
The Beginning Stages
At the start of our process, we spent time understanding what The Campbell’s actually wanted out of their space day-to-day. What they valued the most was a space with outstanding storage capabilities, aging-in-place considerations, and to be beautiful. To achieve this we focused heavily on cabinet design, curb-less entry & large bench within the shower, and a style that harnessed their love for the rockies.
A Grotto Experience
When we heard the words “mountain grotto”, our ears perked up. We’ve spent a lot of time in the mountains, and know what it’s like to be taken care of in mountain lodges. We drew on those experiences to inject those aspects into this Windsor bathroom. From adjustable low lighting, to integrated linen storage and disposal, to a shower one could practically live in — we built this space to accommodate The Campbell’s daily lives like a luxurious mountain lodge would.
Aging-In-Place
What makes a space age-in-place are details like a curb-less entry shower, 36” doorways & openings, automatic low-lights that make using the bathroom comfortable at night, and intentional blocking behind the drywall for easy installation of future grab bars. What also makes a space age-in-place, is not having any idea that that’s part of the intention. These aspects are not a compromise to be made, but rather ones that promote a good lifestyle and are part of the design.
A Supportive Space
For The Campbell’s, this project wasn’t just about updating a bathroom, it was about creating a space that supported their home life. Our job was to investigate their deepest needs in a space, and with their guidance, handle every aspect of putting it together.
